Pecan Gap Community Church will have its first Vacation Bible School July 7,8, and 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The school will be under the direction of Michelle Owens of Windom. Crafts, music, and Bible story will be followed by a light meal each evening. The finale for the VBS will be Sunday night July 11, the message will be brought by Ron Hickey of Friendship Baptist Church. The PGCC had another first last Sunday as well, the first wedding took place on July 4th, in the Red Barn. Loki McNeese, a 2019 Fannindel graduate, and daughter of Kristen NeuMajors, and granddaughter of Allyn and Sandy Conover, married Ryan Mackey, currently serving in the Army at Fort Polk. The Rev. Clyde Bostick officiated. The couple will reside in Louisiana. The McCarrell, Finley and Stancil families had a combined 4th of July celebration in “the Gap” at the home of Bobby and Billie McCarrell. Their good friend, Nelda Campbell attended as well. Everyone enjoyed great food and fireworks and just being able to be together again to celebrate America’s Independence Day! Bobby and Billie, “MeMaw and PePaw” thoroughly enjoyed watching their three great grand-babies playing in the little plastic swimming pool, this was the first time the little tadpoles had all been together. The 55th Annual Ladonia Rodeo is this weekend, but for the first time the annual Frontier Days that has always been in conjunction will not happen until this fall, September 25, 2021. The Ladonia Chamber of Commerce voted to move it to be in conjunction now with the LRA Bull Fest, so that it will not be so hot and hopefully attended by more people. My news of the week is that I have been suffering pain the last week with the shingles. I have already had the vaccination, but I got it several years ago, and I presumed that I would never get them. Well, I was wrong. My shingles never came to the surface of my skin, so therefore I had excruciating pain especially under my right arm for three days before I decided I have to go to see my doctor. I was diagnosed right off the bat, “you’ve got the shingles”. The doctor told me that the reason mine may have not surfaced is due the fact I had received the vaccination for them years back. I’ve also learned since, that they now have a newer, better vaccination against them. The one I had, was a one shot wonder, but now the newer one is a two shot process. I tell you all of this to try and help give advice to others who like me, did not know that even if you received the vaccination before, you can still get them. So, I am gonna wait until mine are completely gone and then my doctor is gonna vaccinate me with the new one, which supposedly is even better in keeping the shingles at bay. Believe me, you don’t want them and if these two shots can prevent you from getting them, then I’d suggest you discuss the possibility of you getting vaccinated with your physician. Until next week, God bless.
