Chisum Middle School & High School

Grades 6 - 12

Synchronous Instruction Two-way, real-time/live, virtual instruction between teachers and students when students are not on campus.

In this method, the required amount of instructional time is scheduled each day. Synchronous instruction is provided through student- issued chromebooks using Google platform. Curriculum for remote instruction will remain the same as in person instruction.

Teacher will:

Take attendance each class period

Provide daily remote instruction following the synchronous guidelines provided by the Texas Education Agency.

Provide daily notes and materials for the student to follow along with at home during the live instruction.

Students will:

Be required to be present and visible during online instruction, to be counted present.

Be required by TEA to meet the 90% rule for attendance and credit.

Login through google meetings to follow along with the daily lessons, each class period

at the designated time.

Be engaged in learning real-time and interactive with classmates and the teacher.

Remote Instruction will have the same grading expectations and follow the same

curriculum as in person instruction.

Be required to use a proctored testing platform when completing quizzes and exams or

any designated assignments.

Parents will:

Parents will receive daily notification of attendance through the parent portal.

Parents will need to monitor student work, attendance and grades.

Parents will receive updated grade reports each grading period.

Parents will communicate any needs or concerns to the district.
In the event of a school shut down, all staff and students will transition to remote synchronous learning. Students and staff will follow the schedule posted to the left of this article.

Remote Instruction Expectations

Asynchronous Instruction - Instruction that does not require the instructor and student to be engaged at the same time. In this method, students learn from instruction that is not necessarily being delivered in person or in real time. Examples may include, but are not limited to pre-recorded lessons, game-based learning tasks that stu dents complete on their own, pre-assigned work.

Students will/must:

Show progress in learning daily

Attend live weekly check-ins with teachers

Have proficient internet access

Have technology device capable of working in Google Classroom

Follow school grading policies for remote students’ work must be consistent for those

used for on campus assignments

Meet 90% attendance through engagement

Progress through programs

Progress from student to teach interaction

Minutes and assignments are due by 11:59 p.m. on date assigned

Minimum of 180 minutes of engagement required daily

Follow the same curriculum and sequence of activities as on-campus instruction

In the event of a lab-confirmed COVID test may switch to remote learning for the duration of quarantine.

Teachers will:

Create and upload instructional videos

Assign work through google classroom

Check-in with students weekly

Assess content knowledge and progress

Schedule appointments as needed with teacher when additional guidance is needed

Progress monitoring through check-ins and other educational platforms

Provide feedback and guidance as needed

Parents will:

Receive daily notification of attendance through the parent portal.

Monitor student work, attendance and grades.

Choose remote learning for any student

Student will be required to remain remote for one full quarter

Teacher Office Hours: 1:45 to 2:30 (Google Meets by appointment)

Teacher Planning Time: 2:30 to 3:40

Scheduled Synchronous (LIVE) Google Meets to be scheduled 8:00a.m. - 12:00a.m.
